Discover the outdoors with interactive presentations by Keith Holland.
Is your school, library, home school organization, photography club, nature center, museum, nature store, or other organization looking for a speaker for a special event? Keith Holland is a Maine-based photographer, author, and naturalist with six years of experience teaching interactive nature classes to students throughout the Eastern United States for organizations such as the YMCA, 4-H, and the Appalachian Mountain Club and he will soon be offering informative lectures and interactive children's classes for those who are interested in learning about nature, photography, and the great outdoors. If your school, home school organization, library, or other organization in Maine* or New Hampshire would like to host one of his presentations, the cost is $395 and includes all expenses except for travel fees for certain Maine counties (see below). For presentations in other states, please inquire about travel costs.
New Presentation Topics Coming Soon:
-
Scat, Tracks, & Animal Facts: This class for middle school students harnesses their powers of observation and provides them with a hands-on introduction to the signs of wildlife that they might encounter, such as footprints and droppings, and what they can learn from them. Each student will have the opportunity to make a plaster mold of an animal track that they can take home with them. Maximum 16 students.
-
Landscape Photography for Everyone: This class is ideally suited to anyone who can understand the basic concepts of exponents and square roots and provides an introduction to landscape photography. While a camera that can be mounted to a tripod and a lens that is threaded to accept filters are ideal, the rules of landscape photography apply even if you just have a point-and-shoot camera or a smart phone.
-
A Beginner's Guide to Wildlife Photography: This photography class is intended for those who are interested in learning to photograph wildlife. It is a more technical class than "Landscape Photography for Everyone" and focuses more on advanced skills for approaching wildlife, autofocus settings, exposure settings, lens selection, and other technical considerations. Please keep in mind that a smart phone is not an adequate tool for ethical wildlife photography, so a camera with at least a 600mm full frame equivalent lens is highly recommended.
*An additional $100 travel charge will apply to presentations in Somerset, Piscataquis, Penobscot, and Washington Counties. A $200 travel charge will apply to Aroostook County.
